Member Posts: 15 Location: Montana, USA | Last week, the good folks at STEC sent their head flight engineer to propjet aviation in response to a specific request to smooth out the finer details of the 3100 in flight on 3 SEs. There were some great results 1. V1.3 of the 3100 was created address these needs... and it works... no more wing rocking and solid performance 2. The yaw dampener is effective, more effective than it has ever been, and I will be adding a yaw dampener to my plane now... 3. The STEC engineer realized clearly that and electric rudder (yaw) trim would be very useful for the SE, not only for the AP, but built into the yoke. We would replace the electric trim switches with a 4 way high hat so that elevator and rudder trim are incorporated into a singular unit. They said they would be willing to do the R&D if we could guarantee a dozen orders to make it financially viable for them. I am all for it and I have placed and order. Please reply to this thread if you are willing to place an order and have this capability... only 11 more to go and we are in! -

Regular Posts: 74 ![]() ![]() | All, I have not seen any full reports on the 3100 in the Silver Eagle - it seemed that early adopters in many aircraft had significant teething problems. Is it now at a stage where one could get it fitted without having to go through several iterations of troubleshooting, hauling the ship to and from the avionics shop? I ask because I am interested, but not keen to open a can of worms given that the 55X does a fairly reasonable job - although its YD is unusable - I think because the yaw inertia with the fully-gassed up auxiliary tanks sets up conditions for YD-induced Dutch roll. Does the YD on the 3100 work much better - and can it coordinate climbing turns? D

Member Posts: 15 Location: Montana, USA | I flew my SE for about 100 hrs without the yaw dampener and the STec 3100... then I installed the yaw dampener (and have flown and additional 75 hrs) and I can say it is a huge improvement with the yaw dampener.. in all modes of flight... I still trim to relieve pressure on the YD, and the YD will hold coordinated in all modes, ascent, descent, turn, cruise
