Hi Guys,

in fact it is a pitty that such a nice airplane doesn't have a digital autopilot. Of course the S-TEC is OK...but not anymore up to date...(no IAS/FLC...no really accurate)

The DFC 90 from Avidyne would be an ideal combination with the Silver Eagle. It is already certified for the C182...

Maybe we could speed-up the development roadmap if there would be enough customers for this digital autopilot.

Whom of you would be interested? I could try to start a petition?!?

Kind of a mix bag of thoughts for me.
I have been happy with my 55x. Not estatic but happy.
I dont like the way it handles approaches when I am vectored above the glide slope. But I have learned to deal with it.
Are the approaches as tight as a dfc90 ? Not generally, like turbulance or being cut in short. But overall good for me.

I think before i spent money on a dfc90 with a EXP5000 PfD, I would bite the bullet and get a G600.

I know before I spend money on a G600 i will spend it on jetA, beaches, seafood, nice lodges and a good vodka.

However, if my 55x were to get stolen the dfc90 would be the nice replacement.

I have already the G600/GTN750 Package...it would be ideal to have it combined with the dfc-90...and not with the EXP5000...

Stolen? Did really someone infracted in your SE and took out your S-TEC?

Wodka? Where are you based?

No, no one stole my 55x.
I was trying to say "if" it was stolen then I would go with the DFC90 rather than replace it with another 55x.
Barring that happening, I personally would stay with the 55x.

You have a verrrry nice panel !

George, if you check with Avidyne you will see that this auto pilot will not interface with anything Garmin. S-TEC does make a digital A/P the DFC-2100 and they are willing to add it to their AML but it would require a few commitments, perhaps three or four, I'm sure more would like it as well. It interfaces with the 55X servos, so it would be just a computer change out and some programing...also on the post by someone regarding putting your propeller into reverse in flight would put the aircraft into a flat spin, of which the only recovery is hitting the ground. Not a good Idea, Reverse would cut off the air flow to the vertical and the horizontal and therefore turn the main wing into a boomerang.....regards Bob

Hi Bob, many thanks for your comment. I haven't thought about the DFC-2100, but you are right, this would be much easier...Do you have someone I could contact at Genesys?

...and thank you also for your comment on the prop. reverse thing...always good to get a second opinion before starting doing weird things ;- )

What kind of improvements have you seen with the new prop? Are you satisfied with the change out?

Thanks.

The 5 Blade is smoother...no speed improvements, slightly better climb, especially at high altitude...sound better in the cabin...more like a jet
